God. I just reread A Fearsome Business by canis_m. Sort of by accident. I mean, really, I was just looking at some detail in the design of the Sugar Quill's Flourish and Blotts, and I ended up on her author page and there was that story that is SO good and I was just going to click on it to remember the good ol' days before the Death of Doom and then I started reading and GOOD GOD that story is SO GOOD.

I love it so. Not just the R/S interaction, but the whole story. Carolina and the kelpie and everything. It's one of those rare stories that I'd enjoy even if I didn't particularly care for the pairing, because the plot and the writing is just that good.
